July Goals

I love July !! Open-mouthed smile

Mostly because my birthday is in July ! lol

But I do love Summer, it makes me remember of all those times spent at my cottage, quadding, swimming, going on see-doo rides, fires, family time, etc. !

Unfortunately, this year I’m to far away do to all those things, so I decided to come up with Goals to help me stay busy and motivated! Smile


1. Read more books – Right now I’m reading Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol, but there are so many other books I want to read this Summer ! I love reading! Like I mentioned Yesterday I’m too curious, so I start reading and cannot stop ! I just want to know more, and more, and more.

2. Try something new – I need to try new things!! I want to go Kayaking, go to the Beach (I haven’t gone here yet), go rollerblading, go for bike rides, take fitness classes, etc. I feel like winter is so long up here and we can never go anything winter. So since it’s summer I definitely want to try out those things!

3. Walk Callie Every morning – I had promised N8 that I would walk Callie every morning. Like a child promises their parents that they’ll take care of the puppy if they get one for them! lol

I definitely broke that promise, so I’m going to need to step my game up, wake up in the morning and take this little brat walking !

4. Take a yoga class at least one a week – I can’t wait for this ! I am not able to practice yoga daily or as much as I want to. So I will try my best to go every week! It does get expensive though, and right now were saving up for a house, so we’ll see how that goes.

5. Be Outside more – I know, it’s summer who wouldn’t be more outside right? Think again, me and my sister spent most of our trip to Mexico indoors! We still get laughed at for that one! lol

I don’t know why but since I was a kid I wasn’t much of a stay outside and do nothing kind of girl. If I’m swimming, biking, quadding or whatever then I don’t mind but just sitting around outside is hard for me.

6. Spend time with friends <3 – My friend from Ottawa is coming to visit and I can’t wait !!! I also made quite a few friends in the past month and cannot wait to spend time with them ! Open-mouthed smile

7. Continue to eat healthy & Continue my naturopathic treatments ! – I’ve been doing really good so far! So I’m hoping I can keep it up and not get sucked into the peer pressure of drinking beer and eating gross foods all the time lol

Plus my treatments seem to be working so far, I’ve been doing them for two weeks now. I still have two more weeks to go until my next appointment so I’m anxious to see the results.

8. Do the 7 day or 5 day Slim down from Tone It up – I haven’t tried them yet, and I can’t wait to see the results ! I definitely need to do this ASAP.I’ve been hearing such positive reviews!

Bikini ready in 7 days? Yes please!

9. Continue to build amazing friendship through blogging – So far I’ve met a lot of amazing people and friends through blogging and I can’t wait to make more and build on the ones I have now.

Like Meg for example! I’ve just been loving hanging out with her and can’t wait until we hang out more. We’re actually going to spend the day together Tuesday! I can’t wait ! Smile

10. Spend LOTS of time with my family !!  - My family is coming to visit at the end of the month and I cannot wait any longer!!!! I haven’t seen them in 1 year and a half! <3

11. Go camping – I love camping! Even though Nate says I hate camping because I’m to scared of bugs! Smile with tongue out  lol I do hate bugs but I think I can handle camping once in a while Smile with tongue out He’s trying to get me to be a great outdoors woman. lol We’ll see how that goes! Smile with tongue out

12. Stop procrastinating – This one is crucial!! I feel like I’ve been procrastinating forever ! Nothing is getting done! You know when you feel like your moving at 200miles/hour and you don’t even know where your head is at. That’s how I’ve been feeling. So thank god I have some time off this week and can finally accomplish things!

7 Random Facts About Me

 

1. I’m an organization freak ! I also love to change things around every five seconds in the house, I cannot survive if everything is disorganized and messy ! I become a nut case !

This is what I dream about ! lol

 

2. I actually started getting into fitness and health just to piss someone off. I’m an not proud of that one, but eh I believe everything we went through makes us who we are today, and without this one maybe I would of never have so much love for fitness and health

3. I’m a VERY curious person ! lol Maybe that is why I love Mysteries so much !!! There basically the only books I read ! I also secretly want to be a private detective or a spy! Haha that would be so awesome! I could solve mysteries all day long !!!!

4. I have two fears – arachnophobia and agoraphobia. One is for spiders the others is people ! Smile with tongue out But seriously I cannot be in huge crowds! I will panic! That includes going to Costco on a Saturday lol

LOL I found this on Google, I had to put it on here. It’s hilarious, sometimes that’s exactly how I feel ! Haha

 

5. I had Lasik eye surgery two years ago! Best.Decision.Ever ! I’ve had glasses since I was in Third Grade. Can you imagine? At one point in University I couldn’t event wear my contacts anymore! Try working out with glasses. Not fun. Not fun ! (I can’t do it anyways! I see a lot of people doing it but I couldn’t)

6. I probably never want to get married. Never say never, but it’s definitely not a priority to me. My mom never got married, maybe I’m just to used to that, that I don’t really picture myself married. I’m not at all against marriage! I think it’s just not for me. Give me a happy, healthy family and I’m happy!

7. I could spend HOURS listening to new music, old music, all types of music. I also could spend hours texting and copying links to my friends to check out the music I just found. Maybe I should change, “could” to “I do all the time” lol I don’t know why I love discovering music and other useless crap. For example, my source of daily news consist of PerezHilton. Sad but true. I usually get my news via N8 lol What can I say, I love the entertainment industry!

How to heal an injury

Before we get to that, I wanted to give you guys a weather update of course –

So this I what happens when the wind is about 90-100 km/h ! Crazyyy

I decided to take a rest day, and try to help my old injury that’s been acting up again.

When I was in high school I sprained my ankle pretty badly while playing soccer. Of course being a teenager and not knowing the repercussions, I decided to do nothing about it. Until, one day, I was at track & field and we were running around town, suddenly this sharp pain in my knee started. I couldn’t even walk !

I when to a chiropractor to try to figure out what was wrong. Turns out when I sprained my ankle, I tore the ligament that is attached to your fibula. Since it’s a ligament, there’s nothing you can do but try to strengthen it, use steroids and/or other methods. So every time my feet hit the ground, my fibula was moving around in my knee. In addition, I now have one flat foot and one normal. Therefore, I need, absolutely NEED, arch support!

It took me a year without running to help it heal. Trust me, that was painful !!! But on the other hand, it made me discover the world of strength training ! Which I now LOVE!

5 years later, I still need to be careful ! So today, I decided to do some muscle simulation using electrodes. I love this machine !!!! It’s a great investment let me tell you !

This injury is probably why I could never run a marathon, but never say never ! I will definitely try one day ! I need to cure my injury 100% before I can run long distances.

 

Here are some tips on healing injuries -

 

1. Ice - When you can feel it acting up, put some ice on it !

2. Rest ! – I know it’s hard and frustrating, but sometimes it’s the only way it will get better.

3. Cross train – You can also change your exercises so your injury can heal and you can still workout. I switched to yoga for a while to help it heal!

4. Use Supports – You can also use supports to help the injury (depending on the injury). I used to wear an ankle brace sometimes to help it. Also, as I mention, now I always wear my arch support insoles!

5. Listen to your body – This is my number one rule ! If I start running and can feel my knees start to hurt I’ll back off and take the necessary measures.

 

Note : I just want to remind you that this might not work for you. I am not a professional. Again, this is what worked for me, but hopefully this can help Smile

What would you do if tomorrow you couldn’t workout for a while ?! This is my worst fear lol Honestly, at one point I couldn’t run or strength training at the same time !! It was really frustrating! It was also hard getting back into it after being away from it for so long !

So turns out I live in the Tropics! Yesterday was soooooooooo humid and sooooooooo hot it was ridiculous. (Emphasis on the So) lol

Try driving standard when your sifter is like touching a stove burner. Not so easy. Not so easy. Smile with tongue out

I made it home In time to save the puppy before she died of heat exhaustion. We have no A/C unit but we can usually survive because it cools down at night.

So the first thing we did was throw her into the bath in cold water. She was being silly making bubbles and then trying to eat them lol. Ohhh puppy love <3

Also it’s not enough that is 40 degrees Celsius, there was also a Tornado watch.

Wow, I guess I haven’t tried good granola yet cause this blew my mind! Love it!

New Alarm Clock

Good morning loves!! <3

I’m starting to like mornings even more! Nate usually wakes up before me, so everyday he’s been sending Callie to wake me up ! lol Cutest alarm clock ever !

This is her creeping away !  She knows she can’t come in, so she only sticks her head to see what’s up put does not dare to put another paw on the carpet ! lol <3

So after this little brat woke me up, I decided a protein smoothie was in order!

A mix a strawberries, raspberry and banana. The best combo ever!

Plus I add some Sun warrior Protein Powder!

Couple hours later, I snacked on a Larabar.

On this hot day, the only thing I could think of was : SALADS!

Shrimp & Beets Salad! So delicious!

(I usually like to make my own dressing.)

Since it was way to hot and windy outside, I decided to go jog on the treadmill instead.

The only downside was that the impact of the treadmill made my knees hurt 3x as much as outside

I tried to tuff it out as much as I could but I ended up running 2 miles in 23.6 minutes

Then I decided to do a bit of leg work. I did some Squats, Lunges, Sumo Squats, Curtsy Squats and finished it off by doing some Planking and well deserved stretching ! I’m aiming at a 5 minutes plank. Let’s see how long it take me to achieve this!

It felt like there was no AC in the gym, I was sweating bullets that’s for sure. Plus I was sporting my usually red face ! lol
